Welcome to my online portfolio.
Imagine a world free of images, where people would have to describe their wedding, or birthday party with words rather than pictures. A world where your television would be more like a large transistor radio with written messages all over the screen . A world where people would have to travel distances to get a glimpse of whatever it is they want to buy for their house. Such was the case not too many centuries gone by. People relied on oral and written testimony to visualize what something or someone would look like. Famous painters, such as Monet, Van Gogh, and many others used their artistic skills to communicate their mental images through their paintings, and were, in essence, pioneer photographers that used brushes and canvasses instead of cameras and film. Then the strong urge to have a realistic image brought on the single most important discovery in human history, “the photograph,” a phenomena which we, in this digital age take for granted, and which dramatically changed the history of our existence on earth. No words can better describe an object or a being fuller and faster than an actual photograph . Our endless desire to engulf ourselves in images has forced technology to come up with everything from digital video and digital photo cameras to cell-phones with photo capture capabilities, and the birth rate of new photo-related technologies are at full speed with no end in sight. Conclusion, each and every one of us has the decisive need to be able to capture the moment. Some capture to treasure it for future reflection, while others use it simply to find some meaning to what was and what is….It triggers mixed feelings in the beholder, the reason being that a picture simply awards and envigors life to a memory that has been in the process of losing the battle with time. It is safe to say that very few will be unaffected by its use. In so far as a photographer is, in essence, communicating his view through the images he creates, he is a creating artist. As an artist he bears the sole freedom, as well, as the responsibility to use his own techniques he deems fit to communicate the degree and the weight his message wants to carry. He can use black and white images to convey unique fantasy or distinct moods. Passion is the single driving catalyst that pushes the photographer to create the unimaginable, and fun is the fuel that eases the flow of new ideas. Having inherited my late father’s passion and artistry in the vast and colorful field of photography, I have been snapping photos since I was 10. My first camera, an Agfa Rapid instamatic that took disposable flash bulbs, allowed me to take my first and most important early steps in the field of black and white. An expert portrait photographer, I learned quite early how to manipulate lighting in concert with complex retouching techniques to become a skillful modern event photographer, as I am currently known. Forty years later I continue to believe in taking my work personally. I feel blessed to be able to engage my work in my hobby, and to use my unique perspective to deliver moments passed and gone to those upcoming, since in the end amidst this vicious life cycle, all that is left over are nothing but a series of reflections of our loved ones, moments we would like to cherish and prolong, others we are weary and watch out not to repeat, hanging on tight to the bright images that spell success, and distancing ourselves from those dark setbacks that bring back feelings of failure. Pictures are instruments that allow us to look behind our shoulder at what we left behind, and educate us on that we could aim at to fulfill our individual missions we set out to achieve. A strong gift that tells a story, and never hides the truth about the way things really are. Most people have the need to leave something of themselves behind to let future generations know they once were part of the human puzzle. I would like to be the person who will give that gift to you and your loved ones to carry with you throughout your long, colorful, and unique journey through life.
